There's wind in the sails of Alinghi Red Bull Racing and TUDOR
In celebration of its partnership with Alinghi Red Bull Racing, TUDOR is unveiling two new Pelagos FXD models: a chronograph and a time-only watch inspired by yacht racing.
The daring and innovative spirit of TUDOR is on full display when it comes to the two new Pelagos FXD and Pelagos FXD Chrono models. The watches are imbued with the spirit of TUDOR and Alinghi Red Bull Racing; two separate entities that share the vision of pushing traditional boundaries.
With cases made from carbon composite, titanium, and stainless steel and fitted with Manufacture Calibres, these watches embody the daring spirit that is needed to be a contender in the most competitive yacht race in history.
Watch enthusiast Nicolas Rolaz, a member of the Alinghi Red Bull Racing Driving Group, had the opportunity to examine the new watches this morning: “The carbon case reminded me of the AC75 with the use of an exceptional performance-driven material and a reminder of the team colours. TUDOR has revisited one of the brand's icons, the Pelagos, with great success.
“The addition of the stopwatch is incredible and adds real interest, especially on the water where timing is key before the start. In match racing – the format for the America's Cup – everything can come down to the pre-start procedure and the timing to the line. The bi-directional rotating bezel is perfect for navigation and starts, with its countdown function.”
The Pelagos FXD “Alinghi Red Bull Racing Edition” models come with several firsts for TUDOR, that go beyond just the watches. This long-term partnership launched in 2022 represents the first time TUDOR has ventured into the world of competitive yacht racing.
The watches combine a high-tech carbon composite, a first for TUDOR, with titanium and stainless steel, just like the AC75 foil. It’s also the first time TUDOR has integrated a chronograph Calibre into a fixed strap-bars case.
These two new models go beyond a partnership, revealing the common denominators between the two brands: the case and bezel insert are made of carbon like the AC75 hull, the crown, bezel and direct-action pushers are made of titanium like the foil and hull fittings, and the case back and movement container is made of steel, like the blades of the foils.
